Re:Zero's fourth season ends on 30 September — and the farewell trailer is doing anniversary work
A new lyric music video set to Konomi Suzuki's season opening theme arrives days before the finale, in a year that doubles as the series' tenth anniversary.

Re:Zero — Starting Life in Another World wraps its fourth season on 30 September, and ComicBook.com reports that Crunchyroll has released a new official music video with lyrics, set to the opening theme "Recollect" by Konomi Suzuki featuring Ashnikko and cut from the season's strongest moments.
The season, based on Tappei Nagatsuki's light novels with illustrations by Shinichiro Ootsuka, ran two cours across a scheduled nineteen episodes; seventeen have aired. Its structure was unusual: rather than splitting into two labelled parts, the season took a hiatus after the Loss Arc concluded in episode 11 and returned to adapt the Recapture Arc. The English dub, which had aired simultaneously with subtitles during the first cour, now runs behind by roughly two weeks, with the final dubbed episode expected 14 October.
A retrospective trailer is not a trailer
The interesting object here is the music video itself. It advertises nothing new. There is no next season announced, no film, no dated continuation — it is a compilation of moments from a season still two episodes from finishing, released to an audience already watching.
That is anniversary marketing wearing the clothes of promotion. 2026 is the series' tenth year, and a retrospective set to the season's own opening theme does something a teaser cannot: it invites existing viewers to treat the finale as an occasion rather than an episode. The nostalgia being sold is for events that happened eight weeks ago.
Why it works, and where it strains
Long-running isekai has a specific retention problem. A season that runs two cours across a hiatus loses casual viewers in the gap and has to win them back with no new information to offer. A retrospective video is cheap, uses existing assets, and reactivates an audience by reminding them what they are near the end of.
The strain is that this approach assumes the finale will land. Compilation marketing raises expectations for the two remaining episodes precisely by insisting the season has already been significant.
