Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam are taking a ten-year-old album back on the road
The pair will tour I Had a Dream That You Were Mine in November, and marked the announcement with an unreleased piano version of "In a Black Out".

Anniversary tours are usually a catalogue exercise. This one comes with something new attached.
Pitchfork reports that Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam will tour I Had a Dream That You Were Mine, their 2016 joint album, for its tenth anniversary. The run opens on 5 November at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. — the duo's shared hometown — and ends in Los Angeles two weeks later, taking in Philadelphia, Woodstock, two nights at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, Somerville, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago and San Francisco's Castro Theatre along the way. Leithauser is fitting it around his annual Café Carlyle residency.
Alongside the announcement, the pair released a previously unreleased piano version of "In a Black Out". That detail is the one worth noting. A decade-old record being played live in full is a nostalgia product; an unheard recording from the same sessions is an addition to the catalogue, and it changes what the tour is for.
Both have been working since. Pitchfork notes Leithauser's most recent album, This Side of the Island, arrived in 2025, and Rostam's third solo record, American Stories, was released in May.
For anyone who catalogues music rather than merely listens to it, anniversary cycles are the moment to pay attention. Tenth-anniversary runs are frequently accompanied by a reissue — remaster, colour variant, bonus material, sometimes the unreleased takes that get trailed exactly like this one. No reissue has been announced here, and we are not going to imply otherwise. But the unreleased piano recording is the kind of thing that ends up on a bonus side, and if it does, the version circulating now will be the early one.
The more interesting question is what a ten-year-old collaboration sounds like performed by two people whose solo work has since diverged. I Had a Dream That You Were Mine was always a hybrid record — Leithauser's voice against Rostam's production sensibility — and a decade of separate careers gives both a different relationship to it.
